Ajrakh - A quick brief

Ajrakh - A quick brief

Ajrakh is mainly found in Sindh, Pakistan, Ajrakhpur, Kutch district of India.

It is a block-printing technique practiced for ages by many families in Ajrakhpur, India. Different varieties of textiles like cotton, modal silk, chanderi silk, dola silk are used as base and geometric or floral patterns are created using several blocks. Mineral and Vegetable dyes of earthen tones like crimson, black, indigo, brown are used and the fabric goes through around 8 washing cycles to create the finished product. It might look easy in a picture, but a lot of hard work goes into getting that perfectly aligned look.

Modern designs have made an impressive long-lasting impact and has made it's way in latest fashion industries.
