Pashmina - A Quick Brief

What is Pashmina?

Pashmina, the softest known wool, very well-known for providing a royal yet comfortable look, comes from the Jammu and Kashmir Region of India. Pashmina is fine variant of spun Cashmere made from the animal hair fiber from Changthangi goat found in the high plateau region of Ladakh. Different steps including combing the goat for getting the fiber, removing impurities, weaving and finishing are all executed by specialized craftsmen and women.

Pashmina and Cashmere are both sourced from same goat however Cashmere fiber ranges from 12 to 21 microns in diameters where as Pashmina refers only to fiber ranging from 12 to 16 microns.
